We offer options, support and connections to victims of domestic violence. Every day we stand with abused women and children in their struggle for safety and justice. We give them concrete information and educate them so they understand what’s been happening to them, utilize other community resources, and empower themselves.

Who we Serve: We serve anywhere from 8,000 to 12, 000 clients per year from our offices in Simsbury, Hartford and Manchester, including our Shelter in Hartford.

  • At least one out of every 3 women will be physically or sexually assaulted by her intimate partner.
  • One out of every 4 families is affected by domestic violence.
  • This occurs in all communities --- CEOs, postmen, social workers, teachers, physicians, electricians, drug addicts, and ministers can be abusers.  Lawyers, government officials, prostitutes, nurses, maids, administrative assistants, vice presidents of corporations can be victims.

Service Basis: Our services are provided free of charge and in the strictest confidence.

Do we make a difference? Absolutely!

  • Women return to their abusers and give them another chance – but they use the safety plan they developed with our advocate.
  • Women leave and, frightened and alone, start a new life in an unfamiliar, scary place.
  • Women leave and go on to college, start a career or return to one, make a safe home for themselves and their children.
  • They come back to us as staff and volunteers.
